Making a welcome third appearance, Union Jill (Helen Turner and Sharon Jagger) are a UK folk duo who have toured the country over the last ten years, delighting audiences with their humour, banter and storytelling. Their original songs are laced with subversive comment, often making the personal political, but delivered with sensitivity and musical precision. Most noted for their harmonies, Sharon and Helen also keep the music varied with a range of instrumentation, including guitars, mandola and mandolin, concertina and banjo. Their ethos is to be entertaining and their shows draw audiences into their on stage conversation with surprising and quirky stage-craft.

My Brilliant Divorce is a comedy, written by Irish dramatist Geraldine Aron. Angela Kennedy Lipski is abandoned by her husband of many years, in favour of Rosa-the-Posa from Argentina. She must learn to rebuild her life and regain her sense of her individuality, as she deals with the empty nest syndrome, the advice of well-meaning friends. Does she learn to date again? How does she deal with the embarrassments of “intimacy” with someone new, after so many years with her husband? This one woman show has been performed by Dawn French, and is funny and poignant and moving. Local actress Joanna Lavelle returns to Whalley Village Hall with this engaging play.

They may have moved away from Whalley but we have again managed to entice back professional opera singers Darren Clarke and Caroline Lester who make up the acclaimed singing duo Trovatori for an early Christmas treat, with songs from opera, the West End and more, plus a few popular festive songs and carols!
Darren studied at the Royal Northern College of Music. His singing career has taken him to opera houses and theatres in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, and Europe. He is also an accomplished Lieder singer. Caroline studied composition at Durham University and reached the final stages of Channel 4’s Operatunity and ITV’s Search for a Soprano. She has performed numerous operatic roles and has appeared in many oratorios and concerts across the UK, Europe and the United States.
They regularly perform as guest artists onboard luxury cruise ships as well as the luxury Thomson Gold and Thomson Couples resorts across Europe to great acclaim. They also appear across the UK in concert halls and theatres as well as at corporate events, music festivals, hotels and private events.
